My next guest is the adorable…
Kris Kennedy!
Wife, mom and former therapist & consultant, Kris left behind the office for the wilds of medieval England and Ireland. She still spends time cleaning the wilds of her home, but whenever she can drag herself away from that excitement, she’s writing sexy, adventure-filled historical romances.
She has books published with Kensington Books and Pocket Books, and they’ve made many Desert Island Keeper/Best Of lists. Her second release, THE IRISH WARRIOR, won RWA’s prestigious Golden Heart® Award for Best Unpublished Historical Romance in 2008, and came out in 2010. Her third medieval romance, DEFIANT, received a starred Publishers Weekly review. Her fourth, DECEPTION, comes out this August, from Pocket Books.
Kris’s latest release is DEFIANT:
A rogue knight and an enchanting renegade join forces to right old wrongs in award-winning author Kris Kennedy’s sizzling new medieval romance.
A warrior with questionable intentions . . .
Jamie Lost is the king’s most renowned commander, a fearless lieutenant ordered to kidnap an exiled priest before rebel forces close in. The mission is simple—until he meets a mysterious thief who will steal his quarry and then his heart.
A lady of remarkable courage . . .
Beautiful Eva is also seeking Father Peter, but she intends to protect him from a secret that could cost him his life. She senses that she, too, should fear Jamie—not just for his wickedly sharp sword and dangerously muscular body, but for the powerful longing he ignites within her.
A secret that could overthrow the king.
When a band of mercenaries abducts the priest, Jamie and Eva must form a volatile alliance. As civil war unfolds around them, they embark on an epic journey that betrays the truth about their hidden identities, their unexpected loyalties, and the simmering attraction that could seal their fates forever.
“Medieval England and its tumultuous history is the backdrop for this daring romance….The love story is both sensual and charming, with flirtatious and sizzling encounters. Kennedy has a way with words, and the witty banter between Jamie and Eva is a great pleasure to read.” ~ Publishers Weekly, starred review
Kris is giving away TWO prizes today. A copy of DEFIANT and THE IRISH WARRIOR.

i would say cause you rock and some of your favorite books are historical on top of that the writing community in general authors embrace each other and support one and another especially if they are from the same publishing house

*sheepishly returning to the thread to actually try to answer the question posed*
(I’m feeling very stoooopid at the moment)
I’m coming blank on, you know, actual knowledge, but I’ll throw out a couple of guesses:
Perhaps the first writers’ group you joined leaned towards historical writing?
Or perhaps you met them through your publisher? You know, a shared author loop/group for debut authors, that sort of thing?
Because you like history (both fiction and non) and read them a lot?

Because great minds think alike!

Hmm… shared interests? And a common thread of good taste? I do think historical romance has much to offer, and many of its authors may share a love of research and excellent writing 🙂 It’s a blessing to find common ground and good friends together!
