Wow, the last time I read a modern cowboy ( sort of) was Nora Roberts, mcgregor brothers books, well they did live on a ranch, ride horses and wore cowboy hats.
If we are going older it would be Rawhide and Lace by Margaret Brownley. Oldie but a goodie .
