This time I really did do it

Happy New Year to everyone! I hope you all had a fantastic holiday. I’m thankful it’s over. The house is now back to normal – well, messy, but normal – and I’m looking forward to school starting up again tomorrow. (My, how my view has changed from my teaching days when I dreaded the start of school.)

I’ve been slack. I will admit it. Aside from the hectic beat of the holidays, I was knee-deep in revisions and, wouldn’t you know it, doing those revisions on the ancient laptop with limited internet access while my laptop was in the shop…yet … Read more »

I did it!

Okay, reality check. I didn’t “quite” do it all.

But…

I did finish my Christmas shopping without committing suicide or driving the car into oncoming traffic. I still have to wrap, though, so anything can happen.

I did finish my Christmas cards…although they’ll all be delivered after Christmas.

I did finish and deliver all the neighbor’s gifts. (Don’t ask. It was a tradition started by someone who had waaaay too much time on their hands. And since we get eighteen neighborly gifts delivered to us, we sorta have to reciprocate. Yes, you read that right. E-i-g-h-t-e-e-n. Wisteria Lane, people. I … Read more »

Checking In . . .

I’m in revision hell, remodel hell, and oh-my-God-I’m-hosting-a-work-Christmas-party-for-the-DH-on-Friday hell, so this is all you get.

Enjoy.Read more »

Solitaire Slut

Well, spider solitaire slut to be exact.

Teri asked how my revisions are coming.

Revisions?! What revisions?!

*Elisabeth drums her fingers on the table and ponders the meaning of life…*

Does that answer your question?

Let’s see. Since getting the full request from SIM, I’ve edited all of about 1/2 page. What, pray tell, has consumed my time and kept me so busy? You guessed it. Spider solitaire.

*sigh*

I just need to dive into MB (pun intended) and get cracking. I know what I want to do. I know how to do it. I also know I have … Read more »

Change of Plans

Looks like the WIP will just have to wait.

I received a full request from an editor at SIM for MB. Sooo…guess what I’ll be doing the next few weeks? Yep, that’s right, getting the manuscript in tip-top shape, editing here and there and prepping it to go out before the end of the year. Did I ever mention I work well under pressure? Um…well…I think…I mean, I hope I do!

Ay ya ya…so much for a nice relaxing holiday season.

Lisa and Rafe from the WIP are not happy with me at the moment, but they’ll just have to … Read more »

Christmas Spirit

So, it’s December 3rd and we are the only house on our street without Christmas lights up and blinking. As a matter of fact, we have been the only house without Christmas lights for almost two weeks.

Two weeks, you ask?

Yes, that’s right. Most of the neighbors had them up and ready to go the weekend before Turkey day. Some even had them on. Hey, around here we call that getting the jump on Christmas spirit, baby.

*sigh*

Of course, not us, because we are bah-humbug by nature. (Okay, so I am, at least.) Christmas decorating (in my opinion) … Read more »

New Blog Design!

Okay, enough tweaking. I’ve been playing with this thing all weekend and I think I finally have it to a point where I like it. I am HTML-illiterate, so this has been a real learning process for me. I should have been writing, but alas, playing with blogger was more fun . . . er . . . frustrating.

Speaking of writing, somewhere along the way I did manage to finish chapter 8. And I gotta tell ya, my hero and heroine are never gonna get together at this point.

Oh, Lordy.

So . . . tell me what you … Read more »

Kewl Beans

I came home from our Thanksgiving trip pleasantly surprised to learn I’d finaled in the Romancing the Tome contest with my wip.

Can you say….surprise???? I rarely enter contests, so this was pretty cool news.

On top of that, I got some great feedback on my entry, and, ironically, all of it was right in line with what my fabulous critique partners had to say after they read the first chapter (smart me, I entered before sending to the cp’s. LOL).

I guess that means they really know what they’re talking about. 😉

Have a great Thanksgiving! (And enjoy the following!)

Actual analogies and metaphors found in high school essays:

1. Her face was a perfect oval, like a circle that had its two sides gently compressed by a Thigh Master.

2. His thoughts tumbled in his head, making and breaking alliances like underpants in a dryer without Cling Free.

3. She grew on him like she was a colony of E.coli and he was room-temperature Canadian beef.

4. She had a deep, throaty, genuine laugh, like that sound a dog makes just before it throws up.

5. Her vocabulary was as bad … Read more »
